Another common feature is the poker face. Also dubbed the “fire iron,” the poker face signifies a player’s expressionless visage upon winning, and is an important component of any winning hand. In addition, the poker face is also the most likely to be used as a reference point by other players.
A good poker strategy should involve both visual and verbal estimation of the opponent’s range. During the pre-flop phase, a player should calculate the best bet size by looking at the flop. If the bet is not enough to justify the cost of the opponent’s cards, he or she can take a page out of the book and bet all in. Alternatively, a player can make a bet that’s equal to the ante.
Aside from the standard deck of cards, some poker variants incorporate video poker. Depending on the game, a player can watch a single hand on a screen or play a multi-hand game on a television. Other variations include games based on computer software. Several researchers have even developed computer poker players.
